Walk-in warm? Dispatch runs 24/7, and average emergency response is under two hours.
Walk-in cooler and freezer repair in New York City. Iced coils, warm boxes, failed controls and worn-out floors, fixed at the cause.
If it heats or cools, it’s handled.
We repair, build and replace walk-in coolers and freezers for restaurants, bars, hotels, bakeries, butchers and catering kitchens across New York City.
What goes wrong with a walk-in, and what we do about it:
Ice on the evaporator is never the fault; it is what happens after one. The usual causes are a defrost cycle that stopped, poor airflow, a door seal, low refrigerant or a problem outside at the condenser. We thaw the coil properly, then fix the cause.

A controller only knows what its probe tells it. A drifting probe or a failing control runs the box, and its defrost, to the wrong number. We compare it against a thermometer in the product zone, replace what is wrong and verify defrost through a full cycle.

A failed condenser fan motor sends head pressure up and shows up thirty feet away as ice on the evaporator. Condenser and evaporator fan motors, condensing units and the parts between them, found and replaced.

A failing expansion valve looks like low charge, and adding gas leaves the real fault in place. Gauges and a thermometer tell them apart. New valves go in with a new drier, the system is evacuated and superheat is checked.

A clogged condensate line backs water up, and the mold, scale and bacteria that follow damage sensors and small parts. Drain pans scrubbed, lines flushed and condensate pumps checked.

Walk-in floors built from the subfloor up: plywood, rigid insulation board and a diamond-plate deck with every seam hot-welded, corners included, while the kitchen keeps working. When a unit cooler is past saving, we replace it.

Walk-in questions we hear most.
Or call 718 802 1700 →Common questions about walk-in cooler and freezer repair
Ice is a symptom. The usual causes are a defrost cycle that stopped, poor airflow, a door seal, low refrigerant or a fault outside at the condenser; on one job it was a failed condenser fan motor. Thaw the coil properly and fix the cause, or the ice comes back. More in 3 signs your walk-in cooler is about to fail.
No. Chipping it off and running it guarantees a callback, because whatever put the ice there is still there. Call before the product warms.
Trust a thermometer in the product zone, not the display. A drifting probe or a failing control runs the box to the wrong number and runs defrost on the wrong schedule. Comparing the two tells us whether it is a control fault or a refrigeration fault.
Yes. We build them from the subfloor up: plywood, rigid insulation board and a diamond-plate deck with every seam hot-welded, while the kitchen keeps working.
