Got a call Tuesday: “The walk-in is warm, can’t figure out why.”

Walked in and the blower looked like it has been abandoned in a blizzard. Half-inch of ice on the coil. Condensation dripping everywhere. Turned out to be a Russell UEL2-304. Normally a workhorse of a unit, the kind you’ll find behind half the walk-ins in this city.

Fun fact, if you aren’t checking this periodically, by the time you can see it, the unit’s been fighting a losing battle for weeks.

Could be a door seal. A defrost cycle that stopped kicking on. Low refrigerant. A dozen other things. And guess wrong, you’re back here in a month doing this all over again.

We don’t guess. We diagnose the actual cause and fix it, so the ice doesn’t come back.

If your Russell, or any commercial refrigeration unit, is icing up, even a little, that’s not normal. That’s a unit asking for help before it quits on you completely, on a Friday night, mid-rush.

Don’t panic. Dont neglect it. Don’t wait for it to die. 📞 718-802-1700
