
Call came in about one room. The rest of the house was comfortable; this one never got there.

That detail matters more than it sounds, because it rules out most of the expensive answers immediately.
This is one head on a multi-zone system — a Fujitsu ASU12RLF1 indoor unit running off a shared AOU-series outdoor unit. When three zones on the same outdoor unit are performing and one isn’t, the problem is almost never the compressor, the charge, or the outdoor unit. All three of those would take the whole system down, not one room.

So the fault is local to that zone. Which means it’s the indoor unit, its line run, or its airflow — and airflow is where you look first, because it’s the cheapest thing to rule out and the most likely thing to be wrong.

Open the head and you can see the whole airflow path: filters, blower wheel, and the coil behind them. A ductless head moves a modest amount of air by design, so it doesn’t take much restriction to make a real difference. Loaded filters and a dirty blower wheel will cut output long before anything trips or alarms.
Nothing about this looks dramatic in a photo. But a room that never quite gets there is the most commonly ignored fault in residential HVAC, because it’s liveable. People adapt to it. They shut the door, add a fan, and stop mentioning it.
If one room in your house behaves differently from the rest, that’s diagnosable. It’s usually not the expensive answer, and it very rarely fixes itself.
