**How often should a commercial ice machine be cleaned?** Every six months is the floor. High-volume bars and restaurants should be on a three-to-four month cycle, which is also what manufacturers specify for heavy commercial use.

**Why is my ice cloudy or hollow?** Cloudy white ice usually means the water filtration is exhausted. Hollow or incomplete cubes usually mean the freeze cycle is ending early, most often because the machine cannot reject heat — a dirty air filter or condenser, or a failed condenser fan.

**Why is my walk-in evaporator iced up?** Ice on an evaporator is a symptom, not the fault. Common causes are a failed condenser fan motor, a defrost circuit out of step, a door seal letting in humid air, or low refrigerant charge. Chipping the ice off without finding the cause guarantees it returns.
